Sample: Working the (broken) system to break the cycle of homelessness

Our systems are so messed up.

I talked to so many people experiencing homelessness who would commit a petty crime just to go to jail. It meant a meal, a shower, and a bed to sleep on. Preferable to the doorways of downtown Englewood on a cold winter night.

When I interviewed Cross, he was big on working the system. It took him two years, but he did end up finding permanent housing.

Here's a link to a short version of his story to be used in the cafe's newsletter, where he shares how he broke the cycle of homelessness.
